  WGCSA Winter Sim Golf Tournament

  Join your WGCSA colleagues this winter for the inaugural simulator golf tournament.  This new event is meant to be a fun, casual way of getting together during the offseason to shoot the breeze and play a bit of indoor golf.  The format and rules are quite simple:

  • Each team must be composed of two WGCSA members.
  • Teams will play head-to-head fourball matches with the winner advancing in the 32-team bracket.  If the match is tied after 18 holes, you will play additional holes until the tie is broken.
  • Handicaps will be used.  We prefer official handicaps but will be using the honor system this year for those who don't have one.  Official handicaps may be required in future years.
  • Putting is optional.  If you and your opponent can't agree on whether your competition will include putting, you'll flip a coin to make the decision.
  • Teams connect with each other to schedule a date and location.  Competition starts as early as November 30.
  • There are deadlines by which the matches must be completed:  December 15 for the Round of 32, January 15 for the Round of 16, February 15 for the Round of 8, and March 15 for the Semi-Finals and Finals.
  • Brackets will be configured to minimize travel in the early rounds, but there is a chance that you may have to travel a few hours for any match.
  • All match outcomes shall be reported to Jake Schneider upon completion who will assist with connecting teams as needed.
  • There will be a non-cash prize for the ultimate winner.

  Find a partner and sign-up today!  Only the first 32 teams are guaranteed a spot, and a waitlist will be generated in the event that anyone drops out.

  Cutline is King

  What: It doesn’t matter what color your mowers or grinders are, “Cutline is King” is designed to help you find and control the cutline of your cutting units – providing a uniformity that you never knew existed. This seminar provides evidence for prioritizing cutting units in today’s high demand, high quality world of golf course maintenance. Over the course of 3.5 hours, Mike Rollins will touch on basic cutting unit geometry, but will mostly focus on detailed factors that affect quality of cut, LENGTH of quality of cut, and after cut appearance. Walk away with ideas to improve your cutting unit maintenance procedures at your facility, immediately.

  
  

  The will also include a "Southern BBQ Buffet" lunch along with appetizers and drinks after the afternoon session wraps up.  Two drink tickets per attendee will be included.
